Legislature’s 2020-21 Budget Cut Rejected by Budget Committee

Legislature’s 2020-21 Budget Cut Rejected by Budget Committee

I am very happy to announce that the Legislature’s 2020-21 Budget has rejected Governor Newsom’s proposal to close the Barstow Veterans Home!!! As the Vice Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee, I’d like to thank the Budget Chair and the rest of the committee for working with me to prevent the closure of this vital resource. As you all know, the home is critical to our local veterans, their families and our community. Although this is great news, we are not done yet- we must continue to fight until the final budget bill is passed on June 15th. I will update you as we continue working through the budget process, but I am now cautiously optimistic that we can save this critical facility and keep our promises to the veterans who call it home.
