The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), compares and rates nursing homes and with the data allows you to find and compare nursing homes certified by Medicare and Medicaid. Their website contains quality of resident care and staffing information for more than 15,000 nursing homes around the country.CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to help consumers, their families, and caregivers compare nursing homes more easily and to help identify areas about which you may want to ask questions. This rating considers differences in the levels of residents’ care need in each nursing home. Ratings are from one to five, with five being the highest level of quality in resident care and staffing. The Veterans Home of California – Barstow has consistently received the five star rating for the past two years.
